I am Aman, an international student in Canada, nearing the completion of my lower-division undergraduate
coursework in Physics, Astronomy, and Computer Science, pursued at the University of Victoria, the University of
British Columbia, and Langara College.
In Canada, I serve as a Teaching Assistant to Prof. Richard Wong for Introductory Undergraduate Physics courses in
Mechanics and Electromagnetism. Previously, I served as a Research Assistant to Dr. Cole Hellings, minimally contributing to the “Upgrade of the Inner Tracking Module for the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider Operations" at ATLAS Collaboration, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of British Columbia.
I also contributed to weekly and annual meetings as a club member of UBC Rover where I oversaw the early implementation of Ground Station for Controlling
the Mars Rover. Earlier, I also served as a Research Assistant to Dr. Justin Albert on "Project ALTAIR: Airborne Laser for
Telescopic Atmospheric Interference Reduction" at the VISPA Research Centre, University of Victoria.
In India, I am directing more than a dozen undergraduate engineering students at Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences, Central University of Jammu under the supervision of
Dr. Haneet Kour. We are potentially
looking for funding to kickstart and scale commercial initiatives through our startups.
Previously, I worked as a Systems Developer leading the development of “Two Factor Biometric Authentication System for
Alternative Nationwide Identity Verification” under the supervision of Dr. Rakesh Jha and Dr. Haneet Kour. I also directed
the thesis of two undergraduate students and supervised final year research internship required for graduation at Indian
Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jalalpur.
In the past, I mentored generations of high school students across my school: Narayana Vidyalayam, Atal Tinkering Labs and
Raman Science Centre. Many went on to secure prestigious recognitions and continue to follow the path of rigorous education
in Science and Engineering. Today, we are simply a reflection of our mentors whose names are tied to our destinies, and
together, we continue to push the boundaries of science and be the frontiers of organisations that we selflessly serve.
Lastly, my identity and who I am today are the results of the guidance and sacrifices made by my parents, teachers, and
mentors such as Dr. Ashwin Kothari and then–Ph.D. student Dr. Varun Tiwari, who, without any expectation of gains or
return on their investment of time and efforts, continue to stand tall as examples of selflessness, integrity, and
dedication to the pursuit of knowledge.
